Local Lodges Co-Host 5th Annual
Festa della Repubblica
(Italian National Day Celebration)

Sunday, June 6, 2010, the Daughters of Italy Lodge #2825 (Clearwater) and Loggia Mona Lisa #2699 (Tampa) will co-host their 5th annual Festa della Repubblica Italiana (Italian National Day Celebration) at the Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore Hotel (2225 Lois Avenue, Tampa, FL) from Noon – 4 PM. This occasion will celebrate the 64th anniversary when Italy became a republic on June 2, 1946. That day also marks the historic 66th anniversary of D-Day.

Five distinguished Italians and Italian Americans will be honored for their dedication and commitment to their profession, community, and heritage – Gayle Guyardo (media host and former TV news anchor), Professor Antonio Iavarone (world-renowned researcher in Genetics and Oncology), Sonny LaRosa (nationally-known musician and band director), Professor Ruggero Santilli (internationally-known scientist in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry), and Joann Torretta (nationally-known fashion consultant and modeling coach).

Special entertainment will be performed by the internationally-acclaimed “America’s Youngest Jazz Band”, youngsters ranging in age from 8 to 13 years of age.

Among the honored invited guests are the Consul General of Italy; the Italian Sr. Military Representative of CENTCOM and other Italian military officials (MacDill AFB); and state and local officials.

Cocktail hour (cash bar) begins at 12 Noon; followed by a sit-down luncheon. There will also be a silent auction with proceeds benefiting Cancer, Alzheimer’s, Cooley’s anemia, and scholarship programs. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $35 each. Upcoming announcements

Don't forget to RSVP for the upcoming picnic if you have not already done so...so far, we are expecting 18 people from our group, plus whoever plans on attending from Mildred Cooper's lodge.

This Friday evening
There are a few of us that will attending the Grand Lodge of Florida, hospitality event to kick-off their quarterly meeting.

If you'd like to attend, just let us know.
Although the event is FREE, they usually accept donations to cover the cost of the food, drinks, etc.

The date of the May 2010 dinner meeting will be May 8th, 2010, Saturday.
The location will be in Westchase.
