Italian movie night at Italian Club in Ybor
We can meet at 6:30 PM for the buffet in the cantina (I assume they will have it this week). It's $10 for all you can eat, and they have a cash bar available.
Then we can see the flick upstairs - sounds like it'll be interesting.
Screening of FOCACCIA BLUES at Cinema italiano!
Friday, April 15 · 7:00pm
Italian Club of Tampa, Ybor City
1731 E 7th Avenue
Tampa, FL
The film "Focaccia Blues" (2009) directed by Nico Cirasola is the story of two bakers from Altamura (Apulia region) who put the local McDonald’s out of business by stealing away their customers, enticing them with the local version of fast food: delicious focaccia topped
with goodies like fresh tomatoes, meats, and cheeses.
Altamura is well known for its doughy delicacies. Road signs welcome visitors to ‘‘The City of Bread’’ upon entering the city limits. The film was awarded the distinction as Best Picture from the Association of Italian Film Critics. Based on a true story chronicled in a 2006
New York Times article "The Bread Is Famously Good, but It Killed McDonald’s," the tale of two bakers able to defeat a McDonald’s has become the stuff of legends.
Introduction and Q&A with USF Professor Patrizia La Trecchia.
Admission is free.
Espresso, dolci and popcorn will be available for purchase.
Come out and enjoy the show!

Happy Hour this Friday, sing with Alvaro
Information on happy hour this Friday (January 14th) at the Italian Club in Ybor. Alvaro came up with this idea.
So, here is our chance to become Italian idols! :-)
We'll meet at the Italian club in Ybor City for their weekly happy hour, and we'll belt out some Italian tunes (3 to be specific). There is a PDF file that I will send you for the lyrics.
Happy hour lasts until 9PM
All you can eat food buffet (optional) is $10. Last time they had a nice selection - chicken marsala, other items, pizza, salad, and cannoli!
If you are a little shy about singing, don't worry a cash bar is available to loosen up your vocal chords. smile And if you are singing challenged like myself, don't worry, it'll be a lot of fun.
Hope you all can make it, Alvaro has graciously offered his musical skills, so let's make it a nice concerto!
Larry
I am an accordionist from Florence, Italy. It could be fun to meet and sing some Italian and Neapolitan songs together; I could accompany and we could download the texts online. I would be glad to read the pronunciation before singing. I would love meeting anyone who loves Italy and us Italians.
So, here is our chance to become Italian idols! :-)

SACCO AND VANZETTI is an 80-minute-long documentary that tells the story of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, two Italian immigrant anarchists who were accused of a murder in 1920, and executed in Boston in 1927 after a notoriously prejudiced trial. It is the first major documentary film about this landmark story.
