It is much much better then the last owners, the quality of the food alone is outstanding. I was afraid to come back after my last encounter with the stale, to be nice, food and the horrible service but my family and I gave it another shot, as it had a new name, & I am so glad we all are. Fresh food is the key to happy returning customers, and well be back for sure.

Our third visit over the past few months. On every visit, the service has been superior, the food delicious and the value amazing! This is truly a world-class restaurant. Tonight our waiter entertained our 5-year old – teaching her to fold beautiful napkin place settings while my wife and I enjoyed our delicious meal.

The Double Hour, Italian film in Tampa
Playing now through June 23rd (Thurs)
THE DOUBLE HOUR
A Romance. A Robbery. A Mystery.
“It's a wild tale that's so full of surprises, reversals and double-jointed plot twists that you wouldn't think there'd be room for anything else. But there is.” - Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times
"The more you try to solve the narrative puzzle, the more you may want to watch it again - or at least argue about what's real." - Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly
"I've seen the fabulously acted Italian thriller The Double Hour twice now, and for all its intricate manipulations, it stays with me for a very simple reason: The love story at its bittersweet heart is played for keeps." - Michael Phillips, The Chicago Tribune
Guido (Filippo Timi), a former cop, is a luckless veteran of the speed-dating scene in Turin. But, much to his surprise, he meets Slovenian immigrant Sonia (Ksenia Rappoport), a chambermaid at a high-end hotel. The two hit it off, and a passionate romance develops. After they leave the city for a romantic getaway in the country, things suddenly take a dark turn. As Sonia's murky past resurfaces, her reality starts to crumble. Everything in her life begins to change - - questions arise and answers only arrive through a continuous twist and turn of events keeping viewers on edge until the film's final moments.
Director: Giuseppe Capotondi
Writers: Alessandro Fabbri, Ludovica Rampoldi, Stefano Sardo
Cast: Kseniya Rappoport, Filippo Timi
Not Rated/2009/1:35/thriller/In Italian with English subtitles
Film Prices

Italian movie night, April 15th
Italian movie night at Italian Club in Ybor
We can meet at 6:30 PM for the buffet in the cantina (I assume they will have it this week). It's $10 for all you can eat, and they have a cash bar available.
Then we can see the flick upstairs - sounds like it'll be interesting.
Screening of FOCACCIA BLUES at Cinema italiano!
Friday, April 15 · 7:00pm
Italian Club of Tampa, Ybor City
1731 E 7th Avenue
Tampa, FL
The film "Focaccia Blues" (2009) directed by Nico Cirasola is the story of two bakers from Altamura (Apulia region) who put the local McDonald’s out of business by stealing away their customers, enticing them with the local version of fast food: delicious focaccia topped
with goodies like fresh tomatoes, meats, and cheeses.
Altamura is well known for its doughy delicacies. Road signs welcome visitors to ‘‘The City of Bread’’ upon entering the city limits. The film was awarded the distinction as Best Picture from the Association of Italian Film Critics. Based on a true story chronicled in a 2006
New York Times article "The Bread Is Famously Good, but It Killed McDonald’s," the tale of two bakers able to defeat a McDonald’s has become the stuff of legends.
Introduction and Q&A with USF Professor Patrizia La Trecchia.
Admission is free.
Espresso, dolci and popcorn will be available for purchase.
Come out and enjoy the show!

Italian mass in St. Pete
Hey everyone,
There is an Italian mass scheduled in St. Pete on Sunday, Feb. 20th.
They used to do this once a month during the snow-bird season, but now they have ceased the mass on a regular basis. However, Father Tony, who has since moved to Cleveland, is back in town, and will celebrate the one-time mass on the 20th. The mass will be in Italian, and they will print a mini-missalete so you can follow along. There used to approximately 40-50 in attendance, but stopped because of lack of interest after Father Tony moved. I have no idea how many will show up this time, but I promised I would spread the word.
Here is the info:
When: Sunday, Feb 20th, 2011
Time: 4PM
Address: 5815 5th Ave N, St Petersburg, FL 33710-7100
Our Lady's Chapel, Capella della Madonna
Cathedral of St. Jude's
Mass will take place in the chapel, not in the regular church.
Thanks,
Larry

Happy Hour this Friday, sing with Alvaro
Information on happy hour this Friday (January 14th) at the Italian Club in Ybor. Alvaro came up with this idea.
So, here is our chance to become Italian idols! :-)
We'll meet at the Italian club in Ybor City for their weekly happy hour, and we'll belt out some Italian tunes (3 to be specific). There is a PDF file that I will send you for the lyrics.
Happy hour lasts until 9PM
All you can eat food buffet (optional) is $10. Last time they had a nice selection - chicken marsala, other items, pizza, salad, and cannoli!
If you are a little shy about singing, don't worry a cash bar is available to loosen up your vocal chords. smile And if you are singing challenged like myself, don't worry, it'll be a lot of fun.
Hope you all can make it, Alvaro has graciously offered his musical skills, so let's make it a nice concerto!
Larry
I am an accordionist from Florence, Italy. It could be fun to meet and sing some Italian and Neapolitan songs together; I could accompany and we could download the texts online. I would be glad to read the pronunciation before singing. I would love meeting anyone who loves Italy and us Italians.
